6 Ways to Find Your Courage

“Fear is a choice.” – Will Smith (from After Earth)

Do you find you’re held back from your passions, dreams, or desires for unexplained reasons? Have you ever had the urge to start something but ended up shying away out of fear? Without courage we often experience fear which restricts us. Before you lose out on your next great passion, here are 6 ways to help you find your courage:

Meditation – Meditation has an abundance of benefits, but did you know it can also help you build courage? Meditating daily promotes confidence, and confidence can boost courage.

Be Mindful – Mindfulness helps you to be aware of your thoughts and feelings. You can use this to your advantage to help you stay aware of when you are feeling fear or lack of confidence.

Acknowledge Your Fears – By being mindful we can remain aware of our fears. When you feel fear, acknowledge it and release it. Holding onto your fears will only wind up causing unnecessary stress and worry.

Worry Less – Worrying is one of the biggest triggers for fear. When we worry about the “what ifs” we wind up losing our courage.

Be Optimistic – In addition to worrying less, be positive and optimistic. Go in to your date, interview, meeting, etc. optimistic (and confident!) about the results and your fear will not control you.

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone – Have you mastered the above tips? Now is time for the ultimate challenge. Step out of your comfort zone and try something new, do something you’ve been avoiding, and/or face your fear!

Remember, fear is a choice, and so is courage!
